East Midlands partnership seeks to grow rehabilitation industries

An industry-university partnership including the universities of Loughborough, Leicester, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent is aiming to grow the already thriving Rehabilitation and Medical Technologies companies in the region through the new initiative "Growing Rehabilitation Industries Project (GRIP)"

Building on the relocation of the £300m defence rehabilitation provision to the region, with a civilian centre to follow, GRIP, if funded, is a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on the collated academic, industrial and clinical expertise.

This project will not only help rehabilitation companies across the East Midlands leap forward with evidence based products, it will also have a positive impact on people with long term health conditions such as brain injury, allowing them to remain in work and independent in the community.

Professor  Pip Logan, Professor of Rehabilitation Research and Occupational Therapist

This is an exciting project in which partners in the East Midlands are coming together to develop new technologies for rehabilitation. It brings together experts in science, engineering and medicine and builds on our excellent relationship with the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre.  It is a great opportunity to grow industry in our region.
