Tackling obesity by activiting brown fat

New Scientist front cover of thermal imaging

Brown adipose fat tissue burns more calories than other fats. If we can activate this fat, it will help avoid obesity and associated Type II diabetes.

Adapting off the shelf Thermal Imaging Cameras, we have been able to avoid expensive CT scanning to measure the fat, and coupled with our image analysis capabilities, we have been studying the behaviour of brown fat and how we can activate it.

This research was featured on the front cover of New Scientist and on BBC Health news.
